The Freedom Center (www.freedom-center.org), a peer-led organization in Northampton, Massachusetts, run by and for people labeled with severe 'mental disorders' and people who experience extreme states, has been providing NADA treatments through their free drop-in clinic since 2006.

At this year's conference in Kansas City on May 20-21, NADA will meet award-winning investigative journalist Robert Whitaker, who emerged in 2010 as a leading critic of the drug-based psychiatric health care paradigm.  Whitaker will present his research and will also serve on a conference panel alongside clinicians discussing the use of NADA methods to assist in tapering off of psychiatric medication.

 

Guidepoints January 2011

The NADA Gaza Strip project was designed to help civilian residents cope psychologically with the traumas of war and everyday life. For this project, teams of local health care professionals are trained in the NADA protocol for a period of 2 weeks.  After receiving training, members of these teams provide ongoing care within their communities.  This model empowers members of a community to help themselves and their neighbours and provides continuity of care in a region that is often difficult or impossible for international medical aid to access.

Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York’s Greenwich Village closed its doors on April 30th, 2010, after struggling to stay afloat in the face of staggering debt.  Many hospital workers took to the streets in protest, recalling team work, enduring friendships and the bonds developed between the workers and the people in the community.
