Contribute to NADA
Just over a week ago 16 Missouri health professionals were trained as Acu Detox Specialists (ADS) in Kansas City at NADA's annual conference. Upon learning about the devastating tornado that went through Joplin, MO, NADA contacted the new Missouri ADSes to see if any would be available to volunteer in a disaster response in Joplin, and 4 responded.
AWB 1-day disaster response training in Springfield, MO held on 5/27/2011

They attended an Acupuncturist Without Borders (AWB) training held in Springfield, MO on Saturday 5/27/2011that focused on how to organize mobile clinics and work with highly traumatized individuals.
A Springfield acupuncturist, Abba Anderson, coordinated the training for AWB, and has been NADA's communication link to Joplin. In a recent field report, Abba writes, "we've got 2 places to treat folks in Joplin, the Salvation Army and a big church called The Bridge, where the Red Cross and other agencies are providing multiple services (drivers licenses, FEMA etc)."
At this time, only in-state acupuncturists and ADSes are able to respond to this crisis. If you reside in the state of Missouri and would like to volunteer in the response effort, please contact the scheduling coordinator, Marianne Chalmers at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
